Martina de Zuricalday is a real institution. This two-hundred-year-old cake shop opened its first bakery in the historical centre of Bilbao in 1830, making it a ‘classic Bilbao’ spot. Almost 200 years later, it is the oldest bakery in the Basque Country and the longest surviving business in the city of Bilbao. In 2015, it was given a ‘Pride of Bilbao’ award for its tradition, craftsmanship, relationship with the local community, quality and good practice.
